Sketchbook Saga - Volume II: Dystopian Dystopian art captures the essence of societies characterized by the remnants of a broken world. It is rooted in literature and cinema, often focusing on themes of technological collapse, environmental destruction, or authoritarian control. The art style portrays a simple yet striking vision of the future, utilizing harsh contrasts, desolate landscapes, and fragmented architecture to evoke feelings of isolation and unease. Many times, a dystopia doesn't mean that the world is orderless. But instead, it means that the world has fallen under a single order or structure. Say the world has been nearly depleted of its resources so consequently, the people relocate to a central area where they can use the remaining resources in the most efficient way.  Sometimes a dystopia is a world of chaos, but other times it has a concise order. Sketchbook Saga - Volume I: Anime & Manga A Little Background Manga Art--Deriving from Japan, is a form of drawn Anime, showcasing modern western cartoon styles. Modern Manga gained some traction in the 19th century, becoming widely popular as a form of affordable entertainment after World War II (1945–1960s). Osamu Tezuka, known as the "God of Manga" revolutionized the medium, creating addicting stories and relatable characters, drawn in by the emotional depth within the adaptations. Many works like  Astro Boy ( Tetsuwan Atom ) and Princess Knight ( Ribon no Kishi ) have shaped a major cultural force.  In attempting to learn a style of drawing like Manga, I studied the origins and also the new--more contemporary--adaptations of manga. I have noticed the style consists of certain exaggerated features and understated features. Many times, the chins of the character are very short and sharp like in Osamu Tezuka's.
